Altaf Hussain’s statement on Young Doctors Strike in Punjab

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr Altaf Hussain has expressed his concerns over the continuing strike by the young doctors in the Punjab and has said that  the legitimate demands of the young protesting doctors should be accepted immediately. Mr Altaf Hussain said that the doctors have been forced to protest for the past two weeks because of their lowly incomes and problems being faced by them due to sharp increase in the cost of living. He regretted that the Punjab government is not doing anything to solve the issue due to which patients are facing difficulties in the hospitals.

Mr Altaf Hussain said that the salaries of young doctors are not on a par with the salaries in other countries of the world due to which a large number of young doctors have immigrated to foreign countries. He said that the countries where the salaries of the doctors were not adequate have increased the salaries considerably and hence their doctors are willingly performing their duties in their own countries. He demanded of President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani to take notice of the strike and solve the problems of the young doctors in the Punjab.

Imran was a worker of Unit 29 of Layari Sector of MQM. The Committee has demanded stern action against the armed terrorists and severe notice of their activities under official patronage and backing.

The Committee said that the terrorists of the gang are holding the city of Karachi hostage by their activities and no one in the city including traders, businessmen and shopkeepers is safe from their thuggery.  They said that another worker of Ranchore Lines Sector of MQM was killed while he was sitting in his shop.  Likewise the gangsters of the gang war resorted to indiscriminate firing on innocent people under the visible patronage of the government in the province of Sindh and its capital Karachi resulting in the death and severe injuries to many people.

They said that it seems that the criminals and gangsters have been given a license to kill and the law and order situation created in the city in the past few days is precipitated by their unbridled activities.

The Committee said that the MQM has been making sacrifices for the peace of the city and national security and it will not comprise over the attempts to worsen the law and order situation of the city by the criminals and terrorists. They said that the MQM will raise its voice in unison with the public and people of different walks of life in order to safeguard the peace and tranquillity of the city.

The Committee also demanded of President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani to take heed of the murder by two workers of MQM in the last two days alone by the firing of the terrorists and end official patronage of the terrorists of the gang war.
