Pakistan is passing through grave economic crisis. It was the need of the hour to adopt austerity in government affairs and cut on unnecessary expenses. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani had also claimed in his first speech in the National Assembly that his government would adopt strict measures to cut expenses.
It is saddening to learn that the government has decided to induct 20 more ministers in the cabinet which will be a huge burden on the national exchequer. The existing number of ministers is more than enough. The expansion only for the sake of accommodating more and more party loyalists is uncalled for. At a time when the country is passing through the worst economic crisis in its history this expansion indicates that the government is more grabbing more and more power instead of solving problems of the people.
