Karachi in festive mood

 

MQM is the third largest political parties in Pakistan. It was founded on 18th March 1984 by Mr. Altaf Hussain. MQM has seen many ups and downs in its long history. It celebrated its 25th foundation day in Karachi. I attended this function at MQM’s headquarter reverently called as Nine Zero. I visited many places. Karachi seemed to be in a festive mood. Workers of MQM had decorated the streets and buildings with their part flags and banners.

I attended their program on the 18th March with my brothers. The discipline maintained by the people was simply remarkable. It is difficult to control such a mammoth gathering of the people. My brother took some photos as well which I wanted to share with my readers.

I formatted my camera memory

Yesterday I accidently formatted my cybershot memory stick and lost hundreds of photos that I had taken on various occasion. I was transferring the images on USB when all of a sudden I decided to format the USB device before transferring images. I had attacked both the camera and the USB to my computer. Unfortunately I selected the camera removable memory and before I could realize the mistake, the damage had been done.

A large number of photos were lost. Some of the pictures were really good. I remember that I had once seen a website that specialized in recovering data from any type of disks. They claimed that they could recover data even from formatted disks. I wonder if they can recover data from a camera memory stick.

Standard Chartered Bank posts profit

Standard Chartered Bank which primarily focuses on Asia, Africa and Middle East has posted a profit of $4.8bn. This pre-tax profit is higher by 19% as compared to the previous years profit. The bank has also said that it would be on sound footing during the year 2009. I believe that this is the first news of a bank posting profit in past several months. So far we have been hearing about losses only.
