Tie-up between British Airways and American Airlines opposed

The head of the Virgin Atlantic is launching a campaign to block the proposed tie-up between American Airlines and British Airways, saying that it will create a monster monopoly. If the tie-up is allowed the two airlines would effectively act as one and it will be anti-competitive.

The proposal for the tie-up comes in the backdrop of rising fuel prices and a number of airlines are seeking such tie-ups and mergers in order to survive.
