Citibank halts mortgage operations in Pakistan

Citibank N. A. has stopped mortgage operations in Pakistan in the aftermath of the Marriott bomb blast in Islamabad in which a number of people were killed. Even though the bank has a minor share in the mortgage market in the country, stopping operations sends negative signals to other foreign businesses.

Citibank had also stopped its operations earlier also when Pakistan had detonated nuclear weapons in response to Indian explosions.

I think that the government of Pakistan must do all it can to fight the menace of terrorism from the country. If the present situation persists and suicide bombings continue to happen, it would finish the economy of the country.
