Citibank has finally decided to give some relief to the unemployed homeowners. According to a news the bank has decided to lower mortgage payments of some homeowners to as low as $500 a month. The Citibank has been getting huge amounts in rescue packages from government. In the past five months US government has pumped in heavy amount of money to save the struggling bank.
I believe that the relief being given is very short. Keeping in view the money that the bank is receiving from the government, the relief being given is very small. It is only for a period of three months and only a selected number of homeowners would get it. Citibank also intends to come with loan modification plans for homeowners who are not able to find jobs in the next three months. The bank says that it would try to find the best payment option for the struggling homeowners.
