Onset of symptoms are

Mild
Gradual

Frequent Urination

In Diabetes, the blood sugar level goes high in response the Kidney’s try to remove excess sugar by filtering it out of body
This makes person to pee more often. Especially at night time.

Increase thirst

The frequent Urination results in loss of water from body resulting in dehydration. This needs the urge to drink water more than usual

Frequent hunger

Our body digestive system breaks the food components into glucose which takes up as an energy/fuel

In diabetic people not enough of this glucose reach body cells through bloodstream

So people suffering diabetes type 2 feels constantly hungar.

Fatigue

A diabetic person feels tired & weak more often due to insufficient sugar reaching body cells through bloodstream

Blurred vision

The people with diabetes have blurred vision usually due to 2 reasons

High glucose levels damage blood vessels in eyes
Swelling of eye lens

If a person goes without proper eye treatment, it may lead to permanent vision loss

Slow healing sores

High sugar levels in blood may cause nerve damage & Poor circulation which results in time taking healing of wounds.

Tingling, numbness or pain in hands & feet

High Blood sugar levels damage the nerves which results in numbness & pain

Dark skin patches

Dark skin patch or band of velvet skin appear on creases of neck armpit or groin.

Itching & yeast infection

Excess sugar in urine provides food for yeast Which can lead to fungal infections.

Metformin delays gastric emptying and reduce appetite. It causes the most common side-effects like nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, anorexia and even constipation.

Metformin can also cause heartburn and dyspepsia. It can cause chest discomfort and heartburn.

You may feel dizzy while taking metformin.

Metformin induced hypoglycaemia

Hypoglycemia menas low blood sugar. Metformin doesn’t usually cause hypoglycaemia. However, if you skip your meal during taking metformin then it can lead to low blood sugar level in your blood.

Other signs & symptoms:

weakness
tiredness
nausea
vomiting
stomach pain
dizziness
lightheadedness
Headache
Irritability
Excessive hunger
Excess sweating
Tachycardia
abnormally fast or slow heartbeat

Long term use of metformin can cause vitamin B12 deficiency.

Now the side-effect we need to worry about is lactic acidosis. It more commonly occurs in Renal failure patients as it is excreted unchanged in urine.

Now some other side-effects like weakness can also be seen with metformin use. It is also called asthenia.
There is also an increase association of upper respiratory track infection while using metformin.

Metformin is also associated with taste changes. You can experience metallic tase while using metformin. The tase sensation can also appear to be bland in some patients.

Metformin can cause myalgia. Which means you can have muscle pain and muscle tenderness.
You can also experience diaphoresis or excessive sweating, Rhinitis or inflamed runny nose or congestion.
