“No security arrangements have been made despite my orders”, Shah angrily told police officers in a meeting held on Wednesday.
He had visited the areas such Sohrab Goth, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Saddar and MA Jinnah Road and found that there was no visible security presence in these areas. He promised that he would maek surprise visits at police stations.
He expressed disappointed over the performance of Karachi police and told them angrily.

”This is enough now. The government has given full powers to police and Rangers and I want to see tangible results because I am tired of presiding over meetings on deteriorating security situation in Karachi,” said Shah. “This is high time now for strict action against negligent police officials”,he said.

I think it is a political stunt to mislead the people. He has been running the province for more than four years and did bother to come out of his house see what is happening in Karachi.  If the police officers are not listen his, he should fire those people and replace them with honest officers who are willing to fight criminals.

The problem is the changing demography of Karachi. Over 2 million IDPs came to Karachi after the Swat and Waziristan operations and a lot of them were criminals associated with the Taliban.

Karachi is there cash-cow. Bank robberies, extortion and even revenge killings are carried out by Taliban men.

Mr. Ibrahim told us what they are doing. We would like to know what his department did to catch criminals. Rising crimes in the city tells us that these officials have badly failed in their duties. Some of the police officials have started saying that they cannot go against these criminals because powerful people and men from agencies support them. I think this is a lame excuse. Has any police or IB officer resisted them?

Scores of writers, intellectuals, civil society activists and political workers staged a protest demonstration against the recently passed Sindh People Local Government Act 2012’, demanding the government to revoke the dual administrative system immediately. Under the platform of Writers’ Forum and Sindhi Adabi Sangat, a large number of writers, poets, intellectuals, political workers, educationists and civil society activists gathered and formed a human chain from the Press Club to Sindh Assembly building.

They have not explained yet what  their objections are. I recommend people to read this month’s Herald. It explains that their demands are unjustified.

Additional SP (operation) Manoj Kumar Yadav has taken a sigh of relief and thanked Amitab for not taking legal against them. He has started a campaign to persuade young men to move away from naxalsims and get education. He had used Mr. Bachman’s photos on billboards. When he came to know about this, he hinted in his Facebook post that he would take legal action against them.

The police department has taken down the posters and billboards. However, he cooled down and said wrote that he would not initiate a case against the department.  He wrote:

DG Rangers Sindh and additional Chief Secretary said that Karachi’s situation has become worse to such an extend that Police and Rangers cannot improve the condition. They have requested federal government to persuade political an religious party to eliminate criminals present in their parties.

I think this is a preposterous statement. While will political and religious parties go against their hardcore elements?

I think we must revamp our police force and appoint honest and dedicated officers who are willing to fight crimes. Statements of these officers indicate they are not willing to take risks and trying to avoid criminals. Why do these officers join security forces if they do  not have courage to face danger.
